Emily Smiley ~ Fine Weddings and Soirees, was established in 2004 under the Direction and Creative Owner, Emily Smiley. It did not just begin then, actually, it started when she was a young girl, working in her Mothers floral shop:
I remember when I was seven years old and I was helping my mom deliver floral arrangements to the Church for a wedding. I watched as everyone ran around like busy bees getting ready for this BIG Day. I thought to myself maybe one day, I too, will be doing this! Now, here I am, deeply IN LOVE with this dream job, and passionate about the experiences I get to help cultivate and create!
Emily attributes her Mothers encouragement, counsel and expertise to her augmentation into the event world. Throughout college, Emily worked at several Five Star Resorts, gaining hands on training in different divisions of Hotel Management and Hospitality. Later, Emily expanded her involvement and has spent nearly a decade learning and perfecting the ins and outs of fashioning the perfect event. Emily Smileys impeccable style, creativity and charming personality allow her to develop a genuine relationship with each of her clients. Her meticulous eye, style, and love for fashion is what makes her unique and a true asset to her clientele.
Emilys work is frequently featured in several multimedia publications: WE-TV Beach Weddings, Inside Weddings, Bride and Bloom Magazine, The Knot Magazine, The Knot Online, C Magazine, Ceremony Magazine (San Diego and Orange County), Exquisite Weddings Magazine, San Diego Style Weddings Magazine and various habitual online blogs. In 2011, Emily Smiley was among the select few highly sought after Event Professionals to participate in the elite book publication The Art of Celebration- Southern California, where her work was featured along with guidance in creating the perfect celebration. Emily has also received numerous accolades for her astounding work: named Best Of Wedding Planner in Southern California (voted by Brides!) in 2010 and 2011 by The Knot.
I am passionate and deeply in love with what I do! I feel truly blessed with the opportunity to work with each of my clients. Whether it is designing an intimate soiree or planning a lavish celebration; each opportunity is unique and should reflect its own genuine inimitability. I sincerely love the raw emotion of planning a wedding. The Happily-Ever-After desire, that each of my brides and grooms express be taken whole-heartedly. Their enthusiasm for this new beginning is rejuvenating and brings hope and life to those around them, including myself!
I am honored that you have taken the time to get to know me: who I am, what I do, and what I believe in. I look forward to learning more about you and what will make YOUR DAY enchanting and magical, just as you have always dreamt it would be.
Q: What is my favorite moment at a wedding?
A: Although I DO love the beauty of floral, the textures of linens, the gorgeous and stylish wedding dresses! However, it is without a doubt my absolute favorite to pause and watch the timeless moment of the Bride walking down the aisle and the look on the grooms face as he watches his bride walk towards him for the first time. There is nothing but pure and heartfelt emotion. Even after hundreds of weddings, this still brings tears to my eyes. At that moment I get a glimpse of what True Love really is. It is a reminder of my personal kaleidoscope, with the image of my husband on the other end of our wedding day spectrum. No job is ever complete unless its done with perfection. To me, perfection is seeing this real emotion experienced!
Q: What is your favorite wedding style?
A: I love weddings that have glamour, charm, and a uniqueness that sets them apart from the everyday wedding. Currently, the Rustic Vintage look is HOT, but for me personally, I would rather have it be Vintage Glam. Jewels, Crystals, Lace, and Pearls ooo la la!
Q: What do you find to be the biggest challenge in planning a wedding?
A: Budgets. Every client is different and finding that happy medium where the client still feels comfortable but we can still have all the bells and whistles. Its not an easy task to keep on track; with all the fabulous options, amazing vendors, and gorgeous photos that we see out there. What bride doesn't want it all!?! But of course, we have to be real about it and prioritize.
Q: What is your greatest asset to Wedding Planning or what sets you apart from other planners?
A: My Husband would say its ALL IN THE NAME! And I do tease him that it was the best business decision I've made on my end! But all kidding aside, I personally feel my style and my charm (smiling) helps brides understand their own personal style. Having a fashion forward, fabulously chic, events is what makes every wedding/event unique and it is my job and passion to do so each time.
